Piñata de la Victoria

"La Piñata de la Victoria” is a design inspired by the traditional festivity celebrated in Mexico. It goes beyond the festive fun that it portrays in modern times and reflects upon the traditional representation that it holds.

The piñata's seven peaks traditionally represent the seven deadly sins: pride, avarice, envy, anger, lust, gluttony, and sloth, while the colorful paper and shiny tinsel are symbols of temptation and vanity. The act of hitting a piñata with a stick represents the strength, willpower and virtue to destroy the sins and trickery in the world; this is done with a blindfold that shows the blind faith with which this is done.

For this concept, the Catrina wears the piñata’s seven peaks as a crown prize over her head, representing the battle against the seven capital sins and her fruitful reward for overcoming temptation. It is a symbol of empowerment and a hard journey fulfilled.
